about

Hello! I’m Laurie. I blog a lot about food and mostly cakes and bread. I think I’m a carbohydrate monster.

I am often very tired, silly, and occasionally prone to poor decision making. I take my constructive criticism wreathed in compliments. A neglected sourdough starter named Bartholomew lives in my fridge, and I dream of one day learning how to properly use a semicolon or being the next Harold McGee. I’d settle for either, I guess.

(Okay, so I’ll admit, I have indeed learned how to use a semicolon. Let;s just pretend that I haven’t so I can keep holding out for McGee…)

    1. I’m so happy to hear that!! I’m afraid I always take photos on the same table and I don’t have very much creativity with them so they do get a bit dull.
      Thanks for your encouragement!

      1. You’re very welcome! With such a lovely blog and interesting, exciting recipes you deserve the award! And yes, it all went very well really timing-wise! 🙂 Look forward to seeing more of your cakes! 🙂 Lili x

  1. It is an honor to have my quiche mentioned in the presence of this glorious fiddlehead one! I don’t easily find fiddleheads in Pennsylvania as much as I did in Canada so Your quiche made me nostalgic as well as hungry! Gorgeous photographs. Love that you take so many as each one is more seductive than the next!!!

    1. I found your lovely golden deep dish quiche quite glorious in its own right, and very adaptable to any sort of vegetable and cheese I might have! I didn’t realize that fiddleheads were not as common in some parts… I’ll appreciate them even more now 🙂 And thanks for appreciating all the photos! I’d like to learn how to take less photos though…and ones that are a bit more creative and self-sufficient, if only because I’m quite tired of uploading so many!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words, Freda! (And my apologies for such a late reply… I haven’t been blogging for the past few weeks). My starter went through a couple of different names, but Barty has stuck 🙂 and luckily my starter has also stuck around despite how occasionally neglectful I am!

    1. Thank you! I’ll admit, not all the recipes are a success (I make it pretty clear in the post whether or not they are 😉 ) but they’re all at least something of an experience and with something to learn!

    1. Aww, thank you! The blog name was decided on a whim (retrospectively I’ve been trying to divine some meaning from it–such as as I like to drink tea ten times a day? haha, it’s not quite working). I’m really loving your blog as well! 🙂
